Adipotide can target the blood vessels in adipose tissue, especially those supplying white adipose tissue. It binds to specific receptors on vascular endothelial cells, such as annexin A2 (ANXA2) and prohibitin, and then exerts its effects. After binding to the receptors, Adipotide can cause vasoconstriction, reducing the blood supply to adipocytes. At the same time, it can also induce apoptosis of endothelial cells in adipose tissue, depriving adipocytes of nutritional support and ultimately leading to their death, thereby achieving the goal of reducing adipose tissue.
