Ipamorelin
His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂
C₄₀H₅₀N₁₀O
Mechanism of Action
• Growth Hormone Release: Ipamorelin is a selective growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) agonist. It stimulates the secretion of growth hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary gland by activating the GHSR. Compared with other GHSR agonists, Ipamorelin has high selectivity and primarily promotes the release of GH without significantly affecting the secretion of other hormones such as adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), prolactin (PRL), or aldosterone.
• Pulsatile Release: Ipamorelin promotes the pulsatile release of GH, a pattern that closely mimics the natural GH secretion in the human body, thereby helping to maintain normal physiological functions.
• Appetite Regulation: Ipamorelin has a minimal impact on appetite. Compared with other GHSR agonists like GHRP-6, Ipamorelin causes less increase in appetite.
Physiological and Pharmacological Effects
• Muscle Growth: By promoting the release of GH, Ipamorelin increases muscle protein synthesis and supports muscle growth and repair.
• Lipolysis: Ipamorelin promotes the breakdown of fat, reducing body fat, particularly in the abdominal area.
• Increased Bone Density: The release of GH aids in increasing bone density and preventing osteoporosis.
• Increased Bone Density: The release of GH aids in increasing bone density and preventing osteoporosis.
• Immune System Regulation: The release of GH also enhances the function of the immune system, boosting the body’s resistance to infections.
